Network and Security Analyst

This employer is looking for new graduates so don’t let the experience qualification throw you off.
This position provides IT support to ensure a secure network, server and workstation operations across the county system. The position is involved in network security, end user hardware and software setup, problem solving, help desk services and in-house training on various applications and hardware.

Examples of Duties
A. Coordinate design, configuration, implementation, maintenance, upgrade and support of County Networks.
B. Monitor LAN traffic, IPS/IDS, workstations/servers, and County remote sites for security / usage / compliance issues
C. Generate security and usage report issues.
D. Administer County-wide antivirus/antimalware systems and remediate security / usage issues.
E. Provides technical assistance to users in the identification and solution of workstation and/or network hardware and software problems.
F. Assists with ongoing computer production and maintenance.
G. Assists with network and server system design, construction and maintenance.
H. Works with vendors/contractors as assigned to meet project goals
I. Assists in assessment of and implementation of existing and new information technology.
J. Coordinate, teach, and assist in user / staff training
K. Participate in strategic/operational planning process.
L. Other duties as assigned.

A. Two-year associate degree in information technology and four-years related IT experience.
B. Four-year degree in Computer Science or related field with a minimum of one year related IT experience.
C. Certificates in Security+, SANS, Network+ and Microsoft Preferred.
D. Experience with network administration and server virtualization preferred.
E. Experience with social media sources/Application Program Interfaces (APIs) preferred.

Physical Requirements:
A. Ability to lift, carry, push up to 50 pounds.
B. Requires extended periods of sitting or standing.
C. Requires extended periods of viewing a computer monitor.
D. Requires extended periods of keyboard use.

Supplemental Information
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

A. Help coordinate the design, configuration implementation and support of County networks including LAN, WAN and CAN systems and individual workstations.
B. Support County and shared systems including MS Windows Server, VM Ware, Office 365, MS SQL databases, Active Directory domain controllers, time systems, public safety systems, financial systems, inventory, Enterprise SAN (storage area network) and others.
C. Coordinate installation of software, service packs and updates.
D. Oversee server operations to ensure optimal operation, provide project management for IT projects.
E. Working Knowledge of enterprise class antivirus/antimalware systems
F. Familiarity with multiple operating systems and ability to learn new hardware, operating systems, and applications as they become available and integrate those new technologies into the existing information infrastructure when appropriate.
G. Provide technical support, consultation and recommendation in a wide range of IT issues.
H. Working knowledge of webpages.
I. Ability to demonstrate familiarity with backup and disaster recovery techniques.
J. Ability to establish and maintain effective team relationships and provide excellent customer service in stressful conditions.
K. Knowledge of internal functions of data processing operations, systems, programs and administration.
L. Ability to detect and correct malfunctions of hardware and software.
Ability to reason and think logically and follow prescribed standards and procedures.
M. Ability to assess and make recommendations of standards and procedures to utilize resources effectively and efficiently.
N. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
O. Knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems and MS Office Suite.
K. Knowledge of server operating systems
L. Maintain inventory of County hardware and software assets including warranties, licenses, versions, and maintenance logs
