Menards offers exceptional advancement opportunities and a path to a successful IS/IT career.  Through Menards summer internship programs, college students have the opportunity to gain a real-world perspective of a professional career in their major courses of study.  Menards interns often continue advancement with the company after college graduation in a full-time entry-level position.

Summer Internships Available Include:

Computer Hardware Support Intern

  • Configure and install hardware and peripheral components (printers, monitors, etc.)
  • Repair and perform maintenance on company-owned computers and peripherals
  • Perform tests on connectivity and application launches
  • Ability to work with hand tools and test sets
  • Support the hardware of 280+ stores and the General Offices!

Programming Intern

  • Work with one of our many Application Development teams
  • Develop and maintain applications for Menards stores, internal websites, external websites, mobile applications, corporate applications, Distribution Center applications, manufacturing applications, etc.
  • Languages used: Java, VB.NET, Progress, SQL, MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle JavaScript, HTML, HTML5, CSS, XML, C/C++, Objective C, etc.
  • Work through the entire development lifecycle, creating program specifications through coding, implementation, and testing
  • Work on assigned tasks that will be for real world applications that will go into the production stage at over 300 stores!

Database Administrator Intern

  • Configure and troubleshoot workstation Database access setup
  • Help create documentation of every aspect of Database Management Systems including hardware configuration and maintenance records
  • Help maintain existing Entity Relationship Diagrams, Data Dictionary and Meta-Data repositories
  • Load database software on test environments after installation of new hardware or software
  • Help test newly installed databases in conjunction with application software ?Help monitor newly installed databases for optimal performance
• Pursuing an Associates or Bachelors degree, with a major in Computer Science, Computer Programming, MIS, Networking, Computer Hardware Support, or a field related to the internship
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently, as well as cooperate with others
• Must be willing and be available to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 8:00am to 5:00pm
• All summer internships are 12 weeks in length (June through August)
