Research Participant Tracking System (PTrax) is seeking a motivated intern to join our agile development team. The successful candidate will work alongside senior developers who have many years of IT industry experience. You will play a role in helping clinical research studies at Mayo Clinic. PTrax is an internally-developed, java-based, enterprise-level research system that tracks research study participant status and manages the consenting processes for a variety of clinical research studies. The team has recently begun development on a new version of the application. Technologies include Java, AngularJS, restful web services with Spring framework and Oracle DB. You will gain experience using TFS, GIT, and Jenkins as part of the development and build process. The intern will be paired with an experienced developer and will be assigned variety of tasks as part of the project that will help gain hands-on experience while contributing to the success of the project. Prior java (or similar object oriented language) experience required. Responsibilities would include, but not limited to:
- design/code/test new functionalities;
- diagnose and debug issues;
- create unit tests;
- write SQL/Stored procedures working with different relational databases;
- collaborate with other team members and our business partners in analyzing and interpreting business requirements;
- Learn an agile development process with hands-on experience and participate in daily scrums.
Responsibilities: The primary purpose of the Internship is to provide an intern with relevant field experiences in their chosen field of study. One or more mentors will be assigned to the intern to provide instruction, guidance and to assess performance. The intern is responsible for observing the functions and processes of the assigned work unit. In addition, the intern may be given selected work assignments to reinforce the learning experience, to assess the performance levels and to provide benefit to the work unit. The intern will be responsible for completing all internship-related assignments and reports for both Mayo and the participating educational facility. Qualifications: The incumbent must be enrolled in a bachelors, masters or graduate degree program from a college or university. Typically, this internship would occur after the student has taken most of the courses required by the degree program. Where applicable – the degree program must require an internship as a graduation requirement (or offer as a credit option).

Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The pay rate is $20 per hour.
