We’re seeking Software Engineering Interns at our mobile and web development office in Chanhassen, MN for our aviation or marine product development teams.
Forget “special projects” for newbies, our software engineering interns work side-by-side with a mentor, making hands-on contributions to the world’s top-selling GPS navigation and wireless communication products. Our interns learn to develop software in C, C++, Assembly or other selected languages. They also test software, perform software releases, quality assurance activities and performance maintenance activities… all on actual Garmin products. Come on, what are you waiting for? Additional responsibilities for Software Engineer Interns in our mobile and web software group include:
- Learning to develop software in Java, C++, or other selected languages for Garmin products in accordance with Garmin’s software development methodology
- Learning to test software using debuggers, emulators, and simulators
- Learning to perform software releases and software quality assurance activities
- Learning to participate in the design of new software products
- Learning to perform maintenance activities for existing products
Other responsibilities include learning to review product information including manuals and brochures for technical accuracy; learning to participate in product definition activities including feature analysis and design trade-offs; and performing other duties as necessary.
Qualified candidates must have completed coursework in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or another engineering field plus a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. Relevant experience and/or training in a high level language such as Java, Objective-C, C++, or C, data structures and object oriented design methodology plus demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills is also required.
Candidates with a cumulative 3.5 GPA and previous experience working in a team environment are preferred. Interest and/or active participation in a Garmin market segment – aviation, marine, automotive, outdoor, or fitness is a major plus!
