What you will be doing
If chosen as the most qualified candidate, you will be working with an amicable, highly motivated, collaborative group supporting software systems that are used by Distribution Engineering and Operations. We maintain, upgrade and modify existing systems such as the GIS (Geographic Information System) and the OMS (Outage Management System).
In addition we are responsible for the successful completion of software projects in our area. These projects can run from several months to several years in duration. You will be working with business stake holders, learning project management, providing post implementation support, developing trouble shooting skills, and performing some end user support.
You will be learning the C# and Python languages and their environments. You will also be learning SQL to query Oracle databases and PL/SQL, which is used to create Oracle triggers and packages. We’ll get you up to speed fast on ESRI mapping products.
Required Skills
a bachelor’s degree in an IT related area such as Computer Science. Students who will obtain their degree by June 2014 will be considered.
familiarity with a high-level language such as Java, C# or Python
strong analytical and problem solving skills, coupled with a strong desire to learn
effective communications and interpersonal skills
the ability to work in a fast-paced work environment with ever-changing priorities
comfort with Microsoft Windows and Office
Candidates may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and / or aptitude.
Required Experience
You’ll really grab our attention if you are already familiar with SQL and database concepts or have a working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS. Being a Windows power user is desirable, as is familiarity with Unix/Linux.
