Job Description: 
Under general supervision and guidance: This IT oriented Media Systems Engineer candidate will be responsible for the support of moderately complex hardware and/or software-based systems in the supported areas; or complex media communication systems, using data networks, and or satellite and terrestrial transmission (fiber optics). The media systems engineer candidate will have primary responsibility in the following areas: Operation of the Mayo Clinic Video Conference Network and the Video Master Control Center. Will be responsible for the design, construction, installation, operation, maintenance, documentation and repair of complex media communication and media information systems. Develops proposals and works with leadership to gain the needed approvals. Works effectively across departmental organizations. Will be required to assist in the implementation and activation of electronics and hardware to support advanced services. Work is reviewed upon completion for quality, timeliness, and adequacy in meeting objectives. Occasional travel required.(009950-47483)

Basic Qualifications: 
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, media communications engineering or related field is required. A minimum of three years professional experience and demonstrated abilities in management information systems, broadcast, post-production, or audiovisual facilities engineering design and technical operations is required. Five years of related professional experience in a corporate environment may be substituted.
OR
An AS degree will be considered in conjunction with supporting IT certifications and minimum of 7 years documented professional experience (as listed below).
Must have working knowledge and experience working with MS Office,AutoCAD and MS Visio. Must have experience with video conference master control operations, and IP based videoconference CODECs such as Cisco / Tandberg along with desktop videoconference clients. Must have experience with streaming video/web based video concepts. Must have experience with various professional/broadcast video/audio formats and related infrastructure. Must be familiar with the over all maintenance, repair, additions, alterations and general upkeep of servers, workstations, and all other required infrastructure.
Incumbent must have project management skills; able to coordinate inventory and maintenance records on equipment and parts, able to restore and maintain back-up devices. Must be able to install, maintain and test various types of network and video interconnections. Must be able to diagnose and correct problems with electronic or mechanical equipment. Must be able to create and interpret electrical schematics.

Other Qualifications: 
PORTFOLIO ATTACHED TO APPLICATION PREFERRED. Must have excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving and facilitation skills. Must have excellent interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution skills. Experience working in healthcare technology. Exposure to managing both custom developed and vendor-supplied applications. The incumbent must be able to handle numerous projects directly at any given time, and to have simultaneous working knowledge of many more. Must be flexible in a continuously changing environment. A positive, enthusiastic customer service attitude is critical to success. Must possess exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, as incumbent will be working with all levels of staff. Incumbent must have an established aptitude for developing and nurturing interpersonal and interdepartmental relationships at all levels of the organization. Must be self-motivated, able to work independently.

License or Certification: The following certifications are

Certified Professional, Microsoft
Certified System Engineer, and/ or
Certified Network Engineer;
Specialist (BDS),
Society of Broadcast Engineer Certification,
Infocomm Technologist Certification,
COMP-TIA Network+

Schedule Details: Monday – Friday
Weekend Schedule: Rotational On-Call
Compensation Detail: Exempt = Salaried – Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every two weeks is approximately $2428, based on a full-time position.
