Software Engineer Intern Job Title: Software Engineer Intern Job Type: Temporary Location: Hamel, MN, MN Outstanding benefits package which includes:: No benefits available. Job Description: SUMMARY: Researches, designs, and develops software systems and applications in a challenging engineering environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned: * Analyzes software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. * Consults with hardware engineers and other engineering staff to evaluate interface between hardware and software to meet product goals. * Consults with product manager and end user to determine the operational and performance requirements of overall system. * Designs and develops software and database application to meet customer/product requirements. * Develops and implements procedures and documentation for software system testing, data validation and training. * Coordinate testing, installation and commissioning of software at customer sites. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: * Must have extensive experience with programming in C/C++, C#, Visual C++, .Net, and database programming using ADO/DAO. * Knowledge of relational database concepts with experience in SQL databases preferably MSSQL, Object Oriented Analysis and Design and GUI development preferred. * Experience working with and developing engineering applications dealing with hardware interface and automation is a plus. * Experience in software testing preferred. * Experience working with and developing engineering applications dealing with hardware interface and automation is a plus. * Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills. * Must have excellent communication skills with the ability communicate with effectively with customers as well as management. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: The individual must be pursuing a BS degree in Software Engineering and shall have achieved junior status or higher. The individual shall also have completed the “core” coursework for his/her chosen discipline. COMPUTER SKILLS: Solid computer skills consistent with the position requirements to include, Windows office, Excel, and Lotus Notes. LANGUAGE SKILLS: The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing. The ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications. The ability to choose the right mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem in regression analysis, measures of central tendency and comparative labor statistics. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to correctly make decisions involving issues/ problems including when to escalate the problem to a more senior consultant PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to be successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
