Communication and Marketing Intern – Fit City Duluth

Fit City Duluth is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization which is dedicated to making Duluth a healthy community through advocacy and information.

Job Summary: The Communication and Marketing intern primary focus will be to keep the fitcityduluth.com website up to date with current information and events. Additional duties include marketing and promotional activities for the Fit City Duluth sponsored Miller Hill Mall Walking program.

Primary Tasks:
Website:
• Actively research events in Duluth area to keep calendar of events current
• Evaluate retailers and clubs to ensure content is accurate
• Assist with blog – create content and manage Executive Director and other staff content
• Assist with special events as needed
• Help manage paid advertising and sponsorships
Miller Hill Mall Program
• Assist in development of monthly programs
• Organize monthly programs with sponsors

Skills and Characteristics:
• Currently majoring in communications, marketing, advertising or related field
• Out-going personality – able to initiate phone calls and respond to inquiries pleasantly and professionally; enjoy working with people
• Organized and reliable
• Knowledge of social media marketing

Supervisor: Executive Director, Fit City Duluth

Length of Term and Pay:
The term will begin in June 2011 and continue through the summer. Term may be extended by mutual consent. Hours are flexible, but intern must be available during work days. The intern must be available for 10 hours per week for the summer. Interns will not be compensated.
