Required Skills:
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in technology related field (Computer Science, Information Systems, Accounting/Auditing, etc.) in progress. 1+ years of IT relevant knowledge is required for this position, with experience in the following areas: · Experience with directory services (Microsoft Active Directory) and user account modification and maintenance · Knowledge of operating systems (Windows XP/2000/2003, Linux, AIX) · Knowledge of security tools, such as web content filtering, log correlation solutions, secure mail applications, etc · Knowledge of network equipment (routers, firewalls, etc) · Awareness of current trends, topics, and issues in Information Technology and IT Security The IT Security Analyst 1 – Intern will rely on strong technical writing skills to provide input for IT Security policy, standards, and procedure development. Strong inter-personal skills are as must to provide IT Security consulting for initiatives across the organization as needed. The IT Security Analyst 1 – Intern will collaborate with IT Security Leadership for executing and maintaining enterprise vulnerability assessments, including such as user account reviews, patch audits, wireless assessments, war dialing exercises, physical security reviews, etc. This position will also include playing a role in the Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) process as trained. Skills/Abilities: Strong verbal and written communication skills including interpersonal skills. Ability to deal effectively in a team environment. Ability to multi-task. Excellent problem solving, flexibility, and analytical skills. Strong customer focus and ability to deal with ambiguous situations.

Job Description:
The IT Security Analyst 1 Internship is a part-time position (20 hours) within the Medica IT Security group available for a current student. As a member of the IT Security team, the IT Security Analyst 1 – Intern is responsible for ensuring Medica maintains a high level of security by providing security-related analysis, consulting, implementation, and guidance across Medica’s IT environment, which includes networks, systems, data, and applications.

The Intern will ensure Medica’s IT environment is adequately protected from risks and threats and is responsible for performing all access control and provisioning daily operations and procedures, ensuring minimum necessary provisions are adhered to while balancing business functionality requests. Will also be responsible for managing security toolsets and responding to data generated from these systems, including but not limited to anti-virus, disk encryption, web filtering, log correlation, etc as assigned.

The IT Security Analyst 1 – Intern will collaborate with all team members within IT Security to build and manage an effective and comprehensive security strategy and program for Medica that supports compliance with legal and business requirements.
