Title: Intern – Strategic Technologies Location: MN-Minneapolis Position Summary The Strategic Technologies program is focused on the deployment of first-of-a-kind technology to solve technical problems in the utility industry. In support of the Strategic Technologies program, a summer intern will be exposed to a variety of work experiences including field data collection, development of technical solutions for all areas of the utility industry, analysis of technical and financial data, business case development and presentation to stakeholders. All work is done in a collaborative environment under the guidance and direction of senior members of the Strategic Technologies team.We are looking for an individual to start on June 1st, 2011. It takes professionals in engineering, customer service, linemen, marketing and sales professionals, energy traders, mechanics, finance and accounting professionals and many others to power our company Minimum Requirements * Must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s (Senior level) or Master’s/PhD programs (undergraduates must have completed at least the Junior year). * Majors include: Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Physics. * Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. * Proficiency with MS Excel required. * VBA (Virtual Basic Application) experience preferred. * Ability to communicate effectively; both written and verbally. * Ability to write project documentation and presentations, and comfortable addressing small to medium sized audiences for presentations. * Must be self- motivated, have good mechanical aptitude, and ability to work well with others. Preferred * Course work in power generation or project management and an interest in the power industry desirable. * GPA of 2.5 or better. * Involvement and demonstrated leadership in student groups or technical societies is a plus.
