As a software engineer on the Marine team, there are opportunities to contribute to a variety of products such as network displays, digital marine instruments, marine radar, satellite weather, and sonar to name a few. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Develop software in C, C++, assembly language, or other selected languages for Garmin products in accordance with Garmin’s software development methodology
* Perform new product software design and development as well as maintenance activities for products already in production.
* Test software using debuggers, emulators, simulators, and/or logic analyzers. Perform software releases and software quality assurance activities
* Real Time embedded software development
Qualifications: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED
* Bachelor of Science or above in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, from a four-year college or university, or equivalent education/ experience
* Strong academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule
* 0 – 3 years related experience as a Software Engineer performing duties similar to the essential function of this Job Description
* Detail-oriented individual with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Relevant experience and/or training in a high level language such as C, C++, C# or Java
* Relevant experience and/or training in data structures or object oriented design methodology
* Relevant education and/or experience in software design, development and maintenance, as required for the successful performance of the essential functions of the position

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
* Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
* Previous experience working in a team environment
* Relevant experience in one or more of the Specialization Areas listed below

SPECIALIZATION AREAS:
* User interface design & development
* Micro computer architecture expert / assembly language programming
* Real Time embedded software development
